Our Inclusive Playgrounds
Inclusive playgrounds are thoughtfully designed, safe spaces for all children regardless of size, mobility, or ability. They remove barriers of exclusion caused by traditional playgrounds and provide sensory-rich experiences.
Each of our inclusive playgrounds is built through generous community and individual donations. Our team of therapists, teachers, community leaders, and parents of special needs children design each play space so that everyone has an opportunity to grow and learn.
Wood County Plays Inclusive Playgrounds are wheelchair and walker accessible through extensive ramping, rubber surfacing, and specialized play equipment. Fencing also surrounds our playgrounds for children with sensory disorders that may elope or run away. The poured rubber surfacing is coded for children with visual impairments to highlight danger areas. Additionally, play spaces for toddlers are specially designed for family fun.
